Identity

Identity is the distinguishing characteristics by which
a person is known to
themselves and others.

Before the injury I would think of myself by what I accomplished and my abilities. But my identity is not only activities but thoughts, behavior, attitude, memory, communication, social skills and much more. These have all been affected. The brain injury has shaken the very core of my existance.

There are misellaneous activities, mental and physical, that I struggle with that others don’t notice. I believe they prevent me from becoming complete.

Like missing pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, people can see the big picture but not the small details. Since my charcteristics have changed I believe my identity has too.
